Nice work — all steps complete!

Your diverter cartridge is replaced and tested. Enjoy smooth, leak-free switching.

Turn Off the Water Supply
~1 min
Locate the water supply for your bathroom or diverter mixer and turn it off completely before starting.
Remove the Diverter Handle
~2 min
Unscrew the diverter handle's fixing screw and lift the handle away to expose the old cartridge underneath.
Take care: If the handle screw is stiff or corroded, apply gentle, steady pressure — avoid excessive force that could damage the screw thread.
Take Out the Old Cartridge
~2 min
Gently pull out the old, worn cartridge from the diverter cavity, taking note of its orientation.
Insert the New JKC-424 Cartridge
~2 min
Insert the new JKC-424 cartridge into the cavity, aligning the square drive head with the handle socket, and press it fully into place.
Take care: Align the square drive head with the handle socket before pushing the cartridge fully into place — forcing it in at the wrong angle can damage the O-ring seals.
Reattach the Handle
~2 min
Place the handle back over the new cartridge's drive head and tighten the fixing screw firmly by hand.
Restore Water Supply & Test the Diverter
~2 min
Turn the water supply back on and test the diverter by switching between spout and shower a few times, checking for smooth operation and no leaks.
Take care: If flow feels uneven or the diverter doesn't switch smoothly, remove and reseat the cartridge before finishing.
Points To Take Care Of

Do's & Don'ts

The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.

Do

  • Verify the 44mm body diameter and 9.5mm x 9.5mm square head against your old cartridge before starting
  • Turn off the water supply fully before opening the diverter
  • Align the square drive head exactly with the handle socket before reassembling
  • Hand-tighten the handle screw firmly, then check it isn't loose
  • Keep the old cartridge until you've confirmed the new one works properly

Don't

  • Don't force the handle back on if it doesn't sit flush — recheck the cartridge alignment
  • Don't overtighten the handle screw with excessive force
  • Don't use pliers directly on the ceramic disc cartridge body
  • Don't skip the water-flow test before considering the job done
  • Don't discard your old cartridge until the new one is confirmed working
