Installation

Step-by-Step Fitting

These steps assume your Duravit-style seat uses top-fixing round hinges — most soft-close seats in this category do.

1. Lift and Remove the Old Seat Cover

Lift the old seat and cover straight up and away from the mounting holes on the toilet rim.
2. Remove the Old Hinges
~1 min
Unscrew or unclip the worn hinges from the mounting holes, depending on your seat's original fixing type.
Take care: Old screws can be stiff — apply steady, even pressure rather than forcing them, to avoid cracking the seat.
3. Clean the Mounting Holes

Wipe the mounting holes clean of old rubber bush residue, dust, and debris so the new hinges seat properly.
4. Fit the Rubber Washer

Place the rubber washer over the mounting hole from underneath for a tight, secure fit.
5. Press-Fit the New JKC Hinge Pins
~1 min
Press each JKC hinge pin firmly down into its mounting hole until it clicks into place.
Take care: Press straight down — pressing at an angle can prevent the pin from seating fully.
6. Lower the Seat and Secure the Screw

Lower the seat onto the fitted hinge pins, then hand-tighten the rubber-grip screw underneath.
Take care: Hand-tighten only — overtightening can strip the rubber grip.
7. Test the Soft-Close Action

Lift and lower the seat a few times, checking it sits firmly with no wobble and closes with a smooth, soft-close motion.

  • Confirm your seat's plate diameter is 45mm before ordering or fitting
  • Clean the mounting holes before fitting the new hinges

  • Keep your old hinges until you've confirmed the new ones fit correctly

Don't

  • Overtighten the rubber-grip screw — hand-tight is enough
  • Force a hinge pin that doesn't align with the mounting hole
  • Use metal tools to pry the rubber bush into place
  • Mix components from different toilet seat brands
  • Discard the packaging until installation is confirmed successful
