What's In The Box

Verify before you start: Compare your old spindle's square drive head (7mm x 7mm), shaft length (76mm), threaded body diameter (Ø25mm), and total length (121mm) against these dimensions before ordering or fitting — this spindle is built for Jaguar-style full-turn flush valves.
Installation

Step-by-Step Fitting

Six simple steps to replace your flush valve spindle and restore smooth, leak-free full-turn operation.

Nice work — all steps complete!

Your flush valve spindle is installed. Turn the handle a few times to confirm smooth, leak-free operation.

1. Turn Off the Water Supply
~1 min
Locate the isolation valve or main supply feeding the flush valve and shut it off fully before starting.
2. Remove the Old Handle/Knob
~1 min
Unscrew and lift off the existing flush valve handle or knob to expose the spindle beneath it.
3. Unscrew and Remove the Old Spindle
~2 min
Turn the base cap counter-clockwise to unscrew the worn spindle and its rubber seal from the valve body.
Take care: If the old spindle feels stiff or seized, don't force it — a few drops of penetrating oil and a gentle back-and-forth turn usually frees it without damaging the valve body.
4. Thread In the New JKC Spindle
~2 min
Thread the new spindle into the valve body by hand first, then snug it with a wrench until it seats evenly.
Take care: Hand-tighten first, then only snug — overtightening the base cap can crack or pinch the rubber bonnet seal.
5. Refit the Handle/Knob
~1 min
Reattach the flush valve handle or knob onto the square drive head and secure it as it was originally fitted.
6. Turn On Water & Test the Full-Turn Action
~1 min
Turn the water supply back on and operate the handle through a few full turns, checking for smooth rotation and no leaks around the base.
Take care: If you notice any dripping at the base, turn the water off again and check that the spindle and seal are seated evenly before retesting.
Points To Take Care Of

Do's & Don'ts

The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.

Do

  • Verify your old spindle's dimensions against ours before ordering
  • Turn off the water supply fully before starting
  • Hand-tighten first, then snug with a wrench — don't overtighten
  • Keep the old spindle until you've confirmed the new one fits and seals
  • Test the full-turn action before closing up the fitting

Don't

  • Don't force the spindle if it doesn't thread smoothly — check orientation
  • Don't overtighten the base cap — it can crack the rubber bonnet seal
  • Don't reuse the old rubber seal — always fit the new spindle's pre-fitted one
  • Don't skip verifying compatibility with Jaguar-style full-turn valves
  • Don't grip the brass body directly with pliers — protect it with a cloth to avoid scratching
