What's In The Box

Verify before you start: This spindle is designed for Jaguar-style pressmatic taps only. Before fitting, check your existing spindle's dimensions match — 58mm full height, Ø29mm thread diameter, Ø21mm bottom diameter. The Ø29mm thread is the one to check first.
Installation

Your pressmatic tap should now shut off smoothly on its own. If you notice any dripping, revisit Step 3 and check the thread seating.

Turn Off the Water Supply

Locate the water supply valve for this tap and turn it off completely before you begin. This prevents any water flow while you're working.
Take care: If you can't find a dedicated shutoff for this tap, turn off the main water supply instead.
Remove the Old Pressmatic Spindle

Unscrew and lift out the worn spindle from the tap body, using a wrench on the collar if it's stiff.
Take care: Old spindles can be seized in place — apply steady, even pressure rather than forcing it, to avoid damaging the tap body threads.
Install the New JKC Spindle

Thread the new JKC spindle into the tap body by hand first, turning clockwise until snug.
Take care: Hand-tighten first — using a wrench too early can cross-thread the spindle.
Reassemble the Cap & Knob

Fit the white ABS cap/knob assembly back over the spindle and press until it seats firmly into place.
Test the Push-Stop Action
~2 min
Turn the water supply back on, then press the knob a few times to confirm smooth push-stop operation and check for leaks around the base.
Points To Take Care Of

Do's & Don'ts

The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.

Do

  • Verify your existing spindle's dimensions match (58mm height, 29mm thread, 21mm base) before starting
  • Turn off the water supply fully before removing the old spindle
  • Hand-tighten the new spindle first, then use a wrench only for final snugging
  • Keep the old spindle until you've confirmed the new one fits and seals properly
  • Test the push-stop action a few times before considering the job done

Don't

  • Overtighten the collar — this can crack the ABS cap or damage the threads
  • Force the spindle if it doesn't thread in smoothly — recheck orientation and thread size
  • Use metal tools directly on the chrome cap — protect it with a soft cloth
  • Skip the leak check after reassembly, even if the push action feels fine
  • Discard your old spindle until the new one is confirmed working
