The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.
If something doesn't feel right after fitting, check here first.
| Symptom | Likely Cause | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Cistern keeps running after installation | Float rod not adjusted to the correct water level | Adjust the float rod position and test the shut-off again |
| Water leaking from the inlet connection | Union nut not tightened enough, or washer misaligned | Turn off the supply, check the washer seating, and re-tighten by hand plus a slight wrench turn |
| New ballcock doesn’t fit the cistern cavity | Your cistern’s dimensions don’t match this SKU’s specifications | Compare your old part’s measurements to the product’s dimension chart, or contact support with your cistern details |
| Water fills too slowly | Inlet valve partially closed, or debris in the inlet | Check the water supply valve is fully open and inspect the inlet for blockages |
| Outlet pipe doesn’t reach the cistern base | Telescopic pipe not extended to the correct length | Extend the telescopic pipe until it seats securely, then re-check the base clips |
