Verify before you start: This ballcock is designed for Jaguar-style concealed cisterns with a 3/8 inch inlet. Compare your existing ballcock’s inlet size (3/8"), total height (243mm), and float rod length (190mm) against your old part before fitting.
Installation

Turn Off the Water Supply

Locate the isolation valve feeding your concealed cistern and turn it fully clockwise to shut off the water supply.
Flush & Drain the Cistern
~1 min
Flush the toilet once to empty most of the water, then open the cistern access panel and keep a towel or bucket handy for any residual water.
Disconnect and Remove the Old Ballcock
~3 min
Disconnect the inlet pipe from the old ballcock, unscrew the union nut, and lift the old fill valve assembly out of the cistern.
Take care: If the old fittings feel stiff or corroded, apply a little penetrating oil and wait a few minutes rather than forcing them.
Fit the New JKC Ballcock

Position the new JKC ballcock in the same orientation as the part you removed, seating it securely in the cistern cavity using the base clips.
Take care: Check the orientation before pressing it fully into place — it should sit the same way your old part did.
Connect the Inlet & Secure the Union Nut

Reconnect the inlet pipe to the 3/8 inch threaded inlet, then hand-tighten the union nut and give it a slight final turn with your wrench.
Take care: Don't overtighten — a firm hand-tight plus a small wrench turn is enough. Overtightening can crack the ABS housing.
Adjust the Float Rod & Outlet Pipe

Extend the telescopic outlet pipe until it seats securely at the base of the cistern, then set the float rod to the desired water level.
Restore Water Supply & Test the Fill
~2 min
Turn the isolation valve back on, let the cistern fill fully, then flush and watch the fill and shut-off cycle at least twice to confirm everything is working smoothly.
Points To Take Care Of

Do's & Don'ts

The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.

Do

  • Verify your cistern’s dimensions against the product listing before ordering
  • Turn off the water supply completely before starting
  • Keep your old ballcock until you’ve confirmed the new one fits and works
  • Hand-tighten the union nut, then snug it slightly with a wrench
  • Check the float rod moves freely before closing the cistern
  • Test the fill and shut-off at least twice before finishing up

Don't

  • Don’t overtighten the union nut or outlet pipe – this can crack the ABS housing
  • Don’t force the ballcock into position if it doesn’t sit correctly – recheck orientation first
  • Don’t discard your old ballcock until the replacement is confirmed working
  • Don’t force stiff or corroded old fittings – apply penetrating oil and wait
  • Don’t skip the test-fill step – check for leaks around the inlet and union nut
  • Don’t use pliers or power tools on the plastic components – hand-tighten only
