What's In The Box

Verify before you start: This ballcock is designed for Jaquar-style and Siamp-style concealed cisterns with a 3/8" inlet thread, 270mm overall height, and 145mm overall width. Confirm your existing part's thread size and dimensions match before removing the old unit.
Installation

Step-by-Step Fitting

Follow these steps in order — most of the work happens inside the concealed panel, so make sure you can access it comfortably before starting.

Your new ballcock is installed. Give the cistern one more test flush to be sure.

Turn Off the Water Supply

Locate the isolation valve on the water line feeding your cistern and turn it fully off.
Take care: If there's no dedicated isolation valve, turn off the main water supply instead.
Open the Concealed Panel & Drain the Cistern
~2 min
Remove the access panel covering your cistern and flush the toilet to drain most of the water, then sponge out any remaining water at the base.
Take care: Keep a towel or bucket handy — some residual water will spill out.
Disconnect and Remove the Old Ballcock
~2 min
Unscrew the inlet nut connecting the water supply line, then unscrew the locknut holding the ballcock to the cistern base and lift the old unit out.
Take care: Old locknuts can be stiff — apply steady, even pressure rather than forcing it.
Fit the New JKC Ballcock
~2 min
Insert the new ballcock's threaded inlet through the cistern base and hand-tighten the locknut from underneath, then snug it with a wrench.
Take care: Hand-tighten first, then only a light quarter-turn with the wrench — overtightening can crack the plastic collar.
Adjust the Telescopic Float Arm

Open the blue quick-release clip, extend or retract the float rod to suit your cistern's depth, then close the clip to lock it in place.
Take care: Make sure the clip clicks fully shut, or the float arm may slip out of position later.
Reconnect the Water Supply Line

Attach the water supply line to the threaded inlet and hand-tighten, then snug with a wrench.
Take care: Check the rubber washer is seated correctly before tightening to avoid leaks.
Turn the Water Back On

Slowly open the isolation valve and let the cistern begin to fill.
Test the Fill and Shut-Off

Let the cistern fill completely and confirm the ballcock shuts off the water cleanly at the correct level, then check all connections for leaks.

Do

  • Verify your cistern's 3/8" inlet thread and dimensions before starting
  • Turn off the water supply fully before opening the panel
  • Keep the old ballcock until you've confirmed the new one fits and works
  • Hand-tighten the inlet nut, then snug with a wrench — don't overtighten
  • Adjust the float arm gradually and test the fill level after each change

Don't

  • Don't force the ballcock into place if it doesn't align — recheck orientation
  • Don't overtighten the locknut — this can crack the plastic collar
  • Don't skip draining the cistern before disconnecting the old part
  • Don't discard the old part until the new one is confirmed working
  • Don't use excessive force on the telescopic float rod — it adjusts smoothly
