What's In The Box

Verify before you start: This handle has a 12mm × 12mm square head slot and a 126mm total length, designed for Jaguar-style 079 Highflow, Continental, Florentine and Modern series diverters. Compare these measurements to your existing handle before fitting.

Nice work — all steps complete!

Your new JKC diverter handle is fitted and ready. Give the diverter a few smooth turns to confirm everything feels right.

Turn Off the Water Supply
~1 min
Shut off the main water supply to the mixer before starting any work, so no water flows while the handle is off.
Remove the Old Diverter Handle
~2 min
Loosen the grub screw on the side of the old handle using your screwdriver or Allen key, then lift the handle straight off the square head.
Take care: If the old handle feels stuck, gently wiggle it side to side rather than forcing it straight up — old handles can seize slightly with age.
Inspect the Square Head Slot
~1 min
With the old handle off, check the exposed square head on the diverter spindle. Confirm it's clean and measures roughly 12mm across, matching your new JKC handle's slot.
Align and Fit the New JKC Handle
~2 min
Line up the square slot on the underside of the new handle with the square head on the spindle, then press it straight down until it sits flush.
Take care: Don't force the handle if it doesn't slide on smoothly — recheck the alignment of the square slot rather than pushing harder.
Secure the Grub Screw
~2 min
Tighten the grub screw on the side of the new handle using your screwdriver or Allen key until the handle feels firm and doesn't wobble.
Take care: Hand-tighten firmly, but avoid overtightening — this can strip the screw thread or crack the handle's base over time.
Turn On Water and Test the Diverter
~2 min
Turn the water supply back on and turn the diverter through its full range a few times. Confirm it moves smoothly and switches flow as expected, with no wobble or leaks around the base.
Points To Take Care Of

Do's & Don'ts

The most common fitting mistakes — and how to avoid them.

Do

  • Turn off the water supply before starting
  • Verify the 12mm square head slot matches your existing diverter
  • Hand-tighten the grub screw firmly and evenly
  • Keep your old handle until you've confirmed the new one fits and works
  • Wipe the chrome finish with a soft, dry cloth after installation
  • Test smooth diverter motion before returning to regular use

Don't

  • Don't overtighten the grub screw
  • Don't force the handle if it doesn't align squarely with the head
  • Don't use pliers or metal tools directly on the chrome finish
  • Don't skip verifying dimensions before ordering or installing
  • Don't discard the old handle immediately after fitting the new one
