Turn Off Water Supply

If the pipe point you're capping is still connected to a live line, shut off the water supply at the nearest stop valve before starting.

Clean The Pipe Thread

Wipe the exposed 15mm (1/2 inch) male thread clean of dust, old sealant, or debris using a dry cloth. A clean thread helps the cap seat evenly.
If the existing thread looks worn or damaged, wrapping 2–3 turns of PTFE tape can help improve the seal.

Hand-Tighten The Cap

Thread the JKC Brass CP Cap onto the pipe end by hand, turning clockwise until it sits snug and won't turn any further by hand.
Make sure the cap is going on straight — if it feels like it's binding or cross-threading, back it off and restart.

Secure With A Wrench & Check The Seal

Using an adjustable wrench on the cap's hex base, give it a gentle quarter-turn past hand-tight. Then turn the water supply back on and check for any drips at the joint.
Important: Do not overtighten. Hand-tight plus a gentle wrench turn is enough — overtightening can damage the thread or crack the fitting.

Care & Maintenance
Clean gently: Wipe the chrome-plated surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or harsh acidic/bleach-based cleaners, which can dull the mirror finish over time.
Dry after cleaning: Wipe the cap dry after cleaning to help prevent water spotting and to keep the chrome finish looking bright.
Periodic check: Every few months, give the cap a light check to confirm it's still snug — everyday vibration or temperature changes can occasionally loosen a fitting slightly.
Avoid overtightening: If you ever remove and refit the cap, hand-tight plus a gentle wrench turn is still the rule — repeated overtightening can wear down the thread faster than normal use.
Not for permanent underground use: This cap is designed for visible, accessible plumbing points (bathroom, kitchen, utility areas) — not for burial or permanently inaccessible installations.
Quick Troubleshooting
The cap won't thread on smoothly
Back it off completely and re-check the thread is starting straight, not at an angle. A worn or damaged existing pipe thread is the most common cause — wrapping a couple of turns of PTFE tape often helps.
There's a small drip after fitting
Give the cap another gentle quarter-turn with a wrench (never force it) and recheck. If the drip continues, remove, clean the thread again, add PTFE tape, and refit.
Does this fit my pipe?
This cap is sized for a standard 15mm (1/2 inch) male-threaded pipe end, with a 9mm thread depth and 19mm inner thread diameter. Compare these measurements to your existing fitting before installing.
Can I reuse the cap if I remove it later?
Yes — as long as the thread isn't damaged, the cap can be removed and refitted. Clean the thread again before refitting for the best seal.
